New Delhi, May 13: Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has warned that any college, university or educational institution not keeping permanent teachers, would not be eligible for government grants.
Replying to a question on teachers being retained on contract for years together in Delhi University and other educational institutions at the cost of quality education, Mr Javadkar responded, saying “we are discouraging appointing teachers on contract. We are instead saying to educational institutes that you should appoint permanent teachers.”
”We have got a mandate for permanent teachers. We are now linking government grants to this. Those institutes which recruit permanent teachers will get a share of the educational grants. We have also linked quality to this. Whichever institute hires permanent faculty, will get government funds,” he said in an interaction with journalists at the UNI Headquarters here yesterday.
