111-year-old Bachan Singh casts vote in Delhi

New Delhi: Bachan Singh, an 111-year-old man who is the oldest voter in Delhi, where polling is underway for the seven Lok Sabha seats along with six other states of the country, has exercised his franchise at a polling booth here on Sunday.
Mr Singh exercised his franchise at Sant Garh polling booth at Tilak Vihar. He was taken inside the polling station on the wheel chair.
It may be mentioned that poll panel officials on Saturday met Mr Singh and appealed him to vote. Azimul Haq,  election officer of the Western District, met the 111 year old voter and also honored him.
A paralysis attack around three months has rendered Mr Singh bedridden but his enthusiasm to participate in largest festival of democracy was clearly visible when he came to vote.
His youngest son, Jasbir Singh (63) , also falls under the category of senior citizens.
For the 17th Lok Sabha polls, the number of voters for Delhi’s seven seats, who are more than 100 years are 96.
Among the women voters in Delhi, the oldest is 110-year-old Ram Pyari Shankhwar, residing in Kondli area of East Delhi.
Elections to seven parliamentary seats in Delhi are witnessing triangular contest between AAP, BJP and Congress.
The results of the polls will be announced on May 23.
