Doda/May,11: A squad of officers of the Forest Department Thursday conducted surprise inspection in Doda town during which many sawmills and sawn timber was seized for violations.
The team led by Conservator Forests Chenab Circle, T. B. Singh, and comprising DFO Doda, Range Officer Siraj Range, concerned Foresters and sleuths of Forest Protection Force Doda inspected various sawmills and private timber sale depots in the town
During the drive, machinery of bandsaw mills operating without proper license of the competent authority and unaccounted sawn timber was seized and brought to Forest Complex Doda.
On the occasion, the Chief Conservator directed the officers to take strict action as per the law against violators. Further directions were issued to sell timber only on the docket book issued by the DFO Doda Forest Division.
