In November 2017, TLP workers demanded the resignation of then law minister Zahid Hamid, and staged a weeks-long sit-in at the Faizabad interchange that virtually paralysed the federal capital and several people lost lives.
On November 21 , 2017 the apex court of pakistan took notice of the sit-in and directed the defence and interior secretaries to submit a detailed report on the matter. Days later, the then PML-N government launched against the protesters an operation which, when failed, forced the authorities to cave and Hamid to resign.
In 2018 , again Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi was taken into “protective custody” by police from Lahore as law enforcement agencies launched a massive crackdown against workers of TLP and Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah . Because He asked workers and supporters to gather at Faizabad in the federal capital — the same venue where the party had staged a weeks-long sit-in last year 2017.
The action was prompted by TLP’s refusal to withdraw its call for protest .
The arrest “has to do nothing with Asia Bibi case”, Fawad Chaudhry said in a tweet, adding the TLP had insisted on coming to Rawalpindi “refusing [the government’s] proposal for alternative arrangements”. The TLP has become a continuous threat to the life and properties of the citizens and is doing politics under the guise of religion, the situation is fully under control, people should remain peaceful and fully cooperate with authorities.” Pakistan has become a battle ground for multi-dimensional Hybrid warfare.
According to people these elements created problem for the common people by resorting to unlawful activities including blocking of roads, disrupting traffic in major cities, torching vehicles, manhandling policemen and openly challenging the writ of the Govt. The govt wisely took a decision to take action after cooling down of sentiments on the streets, an iron handed action was launched to deal with the chaos politics of TLP. TLP has apparently attained the capacity to paralyze major cities, threaten the State and influence the decisions of policy makers. In terms of ideology, TLP appears to be anarchist, according to them; an individual has the right to commit an act of violence if he feels that an act of blasphemy has been committed. Khan Govt managed the TLP issue with patience and maturity.
Religious scholars/leaders need to play their positive role in making state a welfare state.
