G’bal:  District Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr. Piyush Singla Tuesday announced Rs 1 lakh for Government Boys High School (GBHS) Khalmulla for the purchase of classroom furniture, meeting a pressing demand of the school.

The DDC made this announcement while participating in e-inauguration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Computer Application Labs (CAL) by the governor Satya Pal Malik in schools across the State through video-conferencing.

The Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, Gayas-ud-Din, Principal GBHS Khalmullla, teaching staff and students were also present on the occasion.

The ICT) and CAL labs in schools are created to provide opportunities to students to build their capacity on ICT skills and enable   computer-aided learning process. The scheme is a major catalyst to bridge the digital divide amongst students of various socio-economic and other geographical barriers.

While interacting with the students, the DDC advised them to make full use of this technology as it can improve the quality of education by campaigning practical and important issues related to education, besides it provides access to wide range of up-to-date learning materials and can help in gaining and accessing information.

Highlighting the potential and role of information technology and internet in modernizing the education, he urged the teachers to understand the nuance of modern technology in teaching and unless we promote computer-enabled learning and usage of ICT in teaching, our students cannot improve the standards of learning, he added.
