Srinagar : The deployment of 38 consultants and 83 medical officers of different hospitals of Kupwara district in Srinagar hospitals has collapsed the working of hospitals particularly the patient care across Kupwara district.
Though the government defends deployments with the contention that doctors posted in remote areas show their inability to work in such areas on different grounds but allegations are galore that most of the doctors presently on deployment in Srinagar district are close affiliations of the incumbent and former legislators including former ministers and influential top bureaucrats holding key positions in the state government.
Top sources in the health department while disclosing this to Kashmir News Service revealed that the vacancies created by the deployments of consultants and medical officers have not been filed in Kupwara district. When contacted Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Kunzes Dolma told Kashmir News Service that she will examine the ground situation, see the scope for rationalization to ensure availability of doctors and take suitable decisions with the consent of the administrative department. She however regretted that mostly doctors posted in the rural remote areas show their inability to work there on different grounds.
