Deployment of doctors, specialists collapses working, patient care in hospitals across Kupwara distt

Srinagar : The deployment of 38 consultants and 83 medical officers of different hospitals of Kupwara district in Srinagar hospitals has collapsed the working of hospitals particularly the patient care across Kupwara district.
Though the government defends deployments with the contention that doctors posted in remote areas show their inability to work in such areas on different grounds but allegations are galore that most of the doctors presently on deployment in Srinagar district are close affiliations of the incumbent and former legislators including former ministers and influential top bureaucrats holding key positions in the state government.
Top sources in the health department while disclosing this to Kashmir News Service  revealed that the vacancies created by the deployments of consultants and medical officers have not been filed in Kupwara district. The number of vacancies of the medical officers in different hospitals left unfiled is detailed as under: PHC Kandi-2, PHC Gushi-2, PHC Gonipora-2, NTPHC Dedikote-1, NTPHC Mugalpora-1, NTPHC Lashdat-1, AD Halmatpora-1, AD Batpora-1, SDH Sogam-2, PHC Lalpora-2, PHC Madianpora-1, PHC Tikipora-1, PHC Cheerkote-1, PHC Kalaroos-1, SHC Dudi Machil-1, NTPHC Pushwari-1, PHC WIlgam-2, PHC Tarathpora-1, PHC Kukroosa-1, NTPHC Cheerikote-1, NTPHC Hafrada-1, NTPHC Sarmarag-1, NTPHC Sherkote-1, NTPHC Pazalpora-1, SDH Zachaldara-1, PHC Wadipora-2, PHC Behnipora-1, AD Wader-1, PHC Chogal-1, LCU Handwara-1, {HC Natnusa-1, PHC Batpora-2, NTPHC Machipora-1, NTPHC Sodal-1, SDH Karalpora-3, PHC Harai-2, PHC Panzgam-2, NTPHC Budnambal-1, SHC Keran-2, AD Gazriyal-1, PHC Trehgam-1, PHC Awoora-2, NTPHC Zirhama-1, NTPHCGugloosa Payen-1, NTPHC Poshpora-1, SDH Tangdar-3, PHC Gabra-2, PHC Teetwal-1, PHC Chiterkote-2, NTPHC Kandi-1, NTPHC Shamspora-1, NTPHC Hajinar-1, NTPHC Nichian-1, NTPHC Gundishart-1, SDH Langate-1, SDH Karalgund-1, PHC Kalamchakla-1, PHC Unisoo-1, PHC Nowgam-1, PHC Monabal-2, NTPHC Lash-1 and NTPHC Batagund-1. The number vacancies of the consultant surgeons and physicians left unfiled in different hospitals of the district are detailed as under: SDH Tangdar consultant surgeons-1, SDH Sogam consultant surgeons-2, SDH Karalpora consultant surgeons-1, SDH Kupwara consultant surgeons-1, SDH Langate consultant surgeons-1, DH Handwara consultant surgeons-2, consultant physicians with specialization and medicine, SDH Sogam-2, SDH Langate-1, SDH Kupwara-3, consultants with specialization in anesthesia, SDH Sogam-2, SDH Karalpora-1, SDH Langate-1, DH Handwara-2, consultant gynecologists, SDH Tangdar-1, SDH Sogam-2, SDH Karalpora-1, SDH Langate-1, DH Handwara-3, consultant paedrtricians, SDH Sogam-2, SDH Karalpora-1, SDH Langate-1, consultant pathologists DH Handwara-1, consultant orthopedicians SDH Kupwara-1, SDH Langate-1, DH Handwara-2, consultant psychiatrists, DH Handwara-1.
When contacted Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Kunzes Dolma told Kashmir News Service  that she will examine the ground situation, see the scope for rationalization to ensure availability of doctors and take suitable decisions with the consent of the administrative department. She however regretted that mostly doctors posted in the rural remote areas show their inability to work there on different grounds.
