Honoring 9/11 Victims: PM Modi Reaffirms India’s Unwavering Anti-Terror Resolve
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegramEmail

New Delhi| Sept, 11 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy, asserting that India’s opposition to terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remains “unwavering”.
Remembering those killed in the attacks, Modi said the world must honour the victims and stand with families whose lives were permanently altered by the horrific events. “25 years on from the horrific 9/11 attacks, we remember and honour the victims and stand in solidarity with the families whose lives were forever changed,” Modi said in a post on social media platform X.
The Prime Minister noted that terrorism had claimed countless lives across the world and underlined India’s longstanding experience in confronting the threat, particularly cross-border terrorism. “As a victim of cross-border terrorism, India has been at the forefront of this fight for several decades,” he said. Modi said the terrorist threat continued to evolve, making sustained international cooperation and a firm collective response essential.
“While the threat keeps evolving, our resolve and opposition to terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remain unwavering,” he said, adding, “We stand in solidarity with all efforts to combat this scourge.” Along with his message, Modi shared glimpses of his visit to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York in 2014, recalling his association with the site dedicated to the victims of the attacks.
The September 11 attacks, carried out through the hijacking of four passenger aircraft, killed nearly 3,000 people and profoundly altered the global security landscape. The attacks triggered a sweeping international campaign against terrorism and led to major changes in counter-terrorism and security policies worldwide. For India, which has faced the persistent challenge of terrorism and cross-border violence for decades, the anniversary also highlights its repeated calls for a coordinated global response.
New Delhi has consistently advocated concerted international action against terrorist organisations, their financing networks, safe havens and other forms of support. Modi’s remarks reaffirm India’s position that the international community must maintain a consistent and uncompromising approach towards terrorism, regardless of its form, origin or perpetrators, while strengthening collective efforts to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
