India freed from Naxalism under PM Modi”
Srinagar | Nov, 06: In a historic address marking a monumental achievement in India’s internal security landscape, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that the country has reached a decisive turning point in its domestic security apparatus.
Speaking at a grand ceremonial event in Dehradun on Friday, the Home Minister announced the successful eradication of Left-Wing Extremism while simultaneously outlining a firm roadmap to tackle the nation’s next major internal challenge: illegal narcotics. The landmark declarations were made during the prestigious President’s Colour investiture ceremony, where the Uttarakhand Police force was officially recognized with the nation’s highest organizational honor.
Highlighting the historic transformation of India’s internal security posture, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the “country has been freed from Naxalism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”. He attributed the decisive defeat of the insurgency to the joint operational synergies forged between local law enforcement and central security apparatuses, emphasizing that “the police of several states, along with paramilitary forces, brought an end to this five-decade-old menace”.
Reflecting on the scale of the victory over Left-Wing Extremism, the Minister said that “the country is now Naxal-free, which is a matter of joy for all”. Turning his focus to emerging security threats, Union Home Minister Amit Shah pointed out that “another serious problem confronts the nation which is menace of drugs”. Setting a firm target for law enforcement agencies across the country, he emphasized that “making India drug-free is country’s resolve and the government has decided that by the end of 2029, India will be completely drug-free, and those engaged in the drug trade will be put behind bars”.
The directive signals a shift in internal security operations toward a comprehensive anti-narcotics strategy, combining strict judicial enforcement, intelligence-led operations, and targeted supply-chain disruption to wipe out drug networks nationwide by 2029.
The backdrop for these major security declarations was the formal presentation of the President’s Colour to the Uttarakhand Police, commemorating 25 years of service since the state’s inception. The President’s Colour represents the supreme military and police honor awarded to an armed unit in recognition of exceptional service to the nation.
During the President’s Colour investiture ceremony, Shah congratulated the Uttarakhand Police on receiving the President’s Colour and said that “Uttarakhand Police has become the 16th force in the country to receive this highest honour”. He added that “this is a moment of immense pride for all those jawans and officers who have served in the Uttarakhand Police over the past 25 years since the formation of the state, those currently serving, and those who have retired”.
