NEW DELHI, Sept. 6:Union Minister Jitendra Singh has called for deeper industry-research collaboration, urging companies to become partners in technology development from the initial stages of research.
Addressing CEOs, CSOs and COOs at the 6th RISE Conclave at CSIR-IICB in Kolkata, Singh said potential commercial partners should be identified during project planning so that market requirements, sustainability, supply chains and commercial viability can shape technologies before they reach the market.
Critical minerals, rare-earth extraction, permanent magnets, lithium beneficiation and recovery of strategic minerals such as vanadium and titanium emerged as key areas of industry interest.
Singh also proposed exploring common R&D facilities for sectors such as foundries and steel, with the government offering platforms for industry-led collaboration.
The interaction also covered space technology, specialised optical components and indigenous production of anti-snake venom. Singh stressed that innovations in the healthcare sector must undergo scientific validation and clinical trials before wider adoption.
He urged industry to move from broad discussions to specific, actionable requirements and assured continued government support in connecting companies with relevant scientific institutions.
