118 police personnel injured, 70 detained as CJP protest turns violent in Delhi

Police used lathicharge and fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters after they allegedly tried to breach barricades and move towards Parliament despite prohibitory orders being in force.
According to Delhi Police, protesters pelted stones, attacked police personnel, damaged public property and vandalised 15-20 government vehicles during the clashes.
Around 60 protesters were also reported injured in the incident, while the medico-legal examination of some injured police personnel was still underway, police said.
Those injured included officers of the ranks of Special Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, as well as several women police personnel, the statement added.
Police said around 70 protesters were detained and that an FIR was being registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other laws, including charges related to rioting, assault on public servants and damage to public property.
