Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and Udhampur also among worst-hit from July 19 to 21

Jammu, July 21 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir witnessed intense rainfall between July 19 and 21, with Katra recording the highest cumulative precipitation in the region.

According to rainfall data, Katra received 245.6 mm of rain during the three-day period. Poonch recorded 204.5 mm, followed by Rajouri with 186.2 mm and Reasi with 184.5 mm. Udhampur also reported significant rainfall at 155.2 mm.

The heavy downpour triggered flash floods, landslides and a rise in water levels across several rivers and nallahs, particularly in the districts of Rajouri and Poonch. The inclement weather has led to loss of life and damage to public and private property, prompting authorities to issue advisories and deploy rescue teams in vulnerable areas.

The Meteorological Department has forecast continued wet weather over parts of J&K and has urged people to remain cautious, especially in hilly and flood-prone regions. (GNS)
