Through esteemed columns of your leading newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the Government and the people on Caste Cenesus. Below mentioned are my views on the subject:-
Conduct a Reliable Caste Census
The upcoming census inclusion of caste enumeration is a historic opportunity to build evidence based public policies rather than relying on demographic assumptions. India has thousands of caste names with deep regional variations. Therefore without a rigorous mechanism for verification & standardization this exercise risks producing a chaotic collection of identities instead of a coherent national database.To ensure its success the government must prioritize scientific exactitude, independent expert oversight, & total political restraint. We cannot sacrifice data accuracy for political symbolism or let statistics become ammunition for competitive identity politics. Ultimately the value of this census depends entirely on the transparency of its methodology & the wisdom with which the gathered data is utilized to promote genuine social justice & national unity.
