Dear Editor,
I want to publish my view through columns of your leading newspaper in Kashmir on unprecedented rise in prices of poultry products post West Asia conflict that has hit the supplies from Gulf countries . Below mentioned are my views on the subject:-
Egg Glut: A Fragile Industry
The poultry sector is currently witnessing a catastrophic price crack with wholesale rates plummeting from ₹7.6 to as low as ₹3.5. This 50% crash has triggered by the West Asia export halt & a domestic supply glut is pushing small scale farmers toward financial ruin. While production costs for feed and electricity remain high the 10 to 15 day shelf life of eggs leaves producers with zero leverage forcing many to consider culling birds. It is a market paradox wholesale prices have cratered yet retail consumers see little relief. The government must intervene immediately with a Minimum Support Price or temporary subsidies for cold storage. Without a stabilized egg corridor for domestic distribution we risk a total collapse of rural livelihoods.
