Dear Editor,
I want to publish my view through columns of your leading newspaper in Kashmir on Karnataka Government’s decision on regulating children digital content . Below mentioned are my views on the subject:-
Nurturing Minds, Regulating Screens
The Karnataka government move to form a multi disciplinary committee to regulate children digital content is a vital intervention for our demographic dividend. While the Economic Survey 2025 26 highlights that internet users in India have surged to nearly 970 million the human cost is mounting. ASER 2024 data reveals a worrying trend while 82% of teens can use smartphones only 57% use them for education compared to 76% for social media. With children under five already averaging 2.2 hours of daily screen time double the WHO limit we are witnessing a silent scourge of reduced attention spans & rising anxiety. This policy must transition from access to wellness ensuring technology remains a tool for empowerment not a source of addiction.
