Srinagar | : In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Police organized “Run for Unity” events across several locations in Jammu and Kashmir, including Awantipora, Budgam, Sopore, Kulgam, and Shopian.
The events were part of the Civic Action Programme (CAP) and aimed to promote unity and national integration. In Awantipora, the event was inaugurated by SDPO Raja Majid, with enthusiastic participation from local school students. Winners of the run received mementos and appreciation certificates. A debate competition at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Tral also saw significant student involvement, with awards presented by SDPO Tral Rajesh Kumar. Shopian’s event was flagged off by DySP Imtiyaz Ahmad and included participation from various schools, with local police officers joining in to enhance the spirit of the occasion. Participants were rewarded with cash prizes, certificates, and mementos by ASP Rameez Rashid Bhat. In Budgam, the run commenced from Sunpah Chowk Beerwah, attracting students, teachers, and local residents. The event was led by the SHO of Beerwah Police Station, and participants received certificates and mementos as encouragement. Sopore’s event at Bomai brought together a diverse group of participants, including students and elders, to promote peace and unity, reflecting the values championed by Patel. Kulgam’s run, flagged off by Addl. SP Mumtaz Ali Bhatti, emphasized the importance of unity and discipline in nation-building, urging students to engage in positive activities. The J&K Police commended the participants for their enthusiasm and reiterated their commitment to fostering unity, integrity, and patriotism in line with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy.
