Srinagar | : The University of Kashmir (KU) held its 100th Syndicate and Finance Committee meetings, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan, with notable attendance from key officials in the Higher Education and Finance Departments of J&K.
During the meetings, Prof. Khan highlighted significant achievements, including the NAAC A++ accreditation and impressive rankings in the NIRF 2025, where KU secured the 8th position among State Public Universities and 34th overall. The discussions encompassed various academic and administrative matters affecting the university and its affiliated colleges. Key decisions included the establishment of an Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences at the Kupwara Campus and the formation of high-level committees to develop Perspective Plans for satellite campuses, aligning with the University’s Centenary Vision 2047. These plans aim to enhance academic growth, research quality, infrastructure sustainability, energy conservation, and job creation. Additionally, new academic programs were introduced in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, such as a Diploma in Criminal Justice through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Five-Year Integrated Masters Programmes in various fields. A policy for the admission of international students was also adopted, alongside approvals for faculty appointments, promotions, and new welfare schemes for employees. The meetings were attended by esteemed academicians and administrators, who acknowledged the university’s initiatives in employee welfare, student employability, quality assurance, and governance transparency. In her closing remarks, Prof. Khan expressed gratitude to the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, and government departments for their support, reaffirming the university’s commitment to transparency, meritocracy, and academic excellence.
