Dear Editor,
I want to publish my views through columns of your leading newspaper “Kashmir Horizon” on Supreme Court’s order to shelter all NCR stray dogs in eight weeks. Below mentioned are my views on the subject:-
Safety first : Court’s order to shelter all NCR stray dogs
The Supreme Court’s order to shelter all NCR stray dogs in eight weeks highlights policy failure, not canine fault. Sterilisation and vaccination work, but poor enforcement especially post-Covid has let numbers surge. With nearly a million strays, sheltering them is unrealistic and existing facilities are already neglected. True safety lies in strengthening humane, sustainable measures, not erasing an entire animal population, which risks sacrificing compassion for short-term relief.
