“Army’s Northern Commander, DGP Prabhat Personally Oversee ‘Operation Akhal’
Srinagar: Two Army soldiers were killed and several others injured during an ongoing encounter with terrorists in the Akhal forests of Kulgam district, South Kashmir. The incident, which has now entered its ninth day, involved a heavy exchange of fire late Friday night, during which terrorists launched a grenade attack. The fallen soldiers, L/Nk Pritpal Singh and Sep Harminder Singh, were honored by the Chinar Corps, which expressed condolences and highlighted their bravery and dedication. The operation, initiated on August 1 following intelligence reports of terrorist presence, has seen one terrorist killed and 11 security personnel injured. Security forces are employing drones, helicopters, and other surveillance technologies to locate the terrorists, who are believed to be hiding in natural caves. Elite para commandos have joined the operation, and a cautious approach is being taken to minimize further casualties. Senior officials, including J&K Police Chief Nalin Prabhat and Army’sNorthern Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, are closely monitoring the situation.
