IIT Jammu to develop Innovation & Future Technology Park, CS Dulloo chairs discusses modalities at top meet

Srinagar : In what could contribute to the further development of Information Technology and related fields in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, has initiated the process to establish Innovation and Future Technology Enabled Services Park.
This was revealed during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo at Civil Secretariat here.
IIT Jammu mooted the idea of the Park that could serve as a single point location for technology and scientific research eco system. The Institute is in talks with the government of Jammu and Kashmir to work out the modalities.
The proposed Park will come up near IIT Jammu on the 200 acres of land already allotted to IIT Jammu.
While chairing the meeting, Atal Dulloo emphasised upon the concerned to study successful IT Park models in other parts of the country that can be replicated in Jammu and Kashmir.
He directed the officers to have in-depth study of successful models and submit a comprehensive proposal for the establishment of a state-of-the-art Innovation & Future Technology Park in Jammu and Kashmir, tailored to the unique socio-economic conditions of J&K.
Emphasizing the importance of sustainable development, he noted that the model should prioritize innovation, job creation, and infrastructure development while ensuring alignment with local resources and talent pools.
Atal Dulloo also directed the Secretary Revenue to demarcate the land that has already been allotted to IIT Jammu.
During the meeting, a detailed presentation was given that outlined the modalities for the establishment of the Park, including land demarcation, infrastructure requirements, investment models, policy incentives, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
It was given out in the meeting that the focus will be on technology based job creation that are relevant for the next 5-7 years and the aim will be to create tangible jobs for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
It was also given out that IIT Jammu will work with government of Jammu and Kashmir and GoI in their endeavour to create an ecosystem for socio-economic growth of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting noted that there was lack of technology ecosystem for youth to contribute to the region and with the establishment of the Park, IT savvy students won’t need to migrate to other states for employment opportunities
It was further given out that the companies at the Park will draw strength from the trained manpower, skilled mentors and research facilities at IIT Jammu.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education; Principal Secretary, Finance; Commissioner Secretary, I&C; Secretary Planning; Secretary, Information Technology; Dean IT, IIT Jammu; DG, Budget; CEO, JaKeGA along with other concerned officers. Director IIM Jammu attended the meeting through video conferencing.
