GDC Dharmari organises seminar on “Clean Campus Initiative”, “Electoral Literacy & Voter Registration”

Reasi : The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Government Degree College, Dharmari on Thursday conducted a seminar on the “Clean Campus Initiative” and “Electoral Literacy and Voter Registration”, aimed at fostering environmental responsibility and civic engagement among students and staff.
The seminar was organized under the guidance of the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Mohd. Mazammal Hussain.
The event commenced with an introduction of seminar by NSS Program Officer who emphasized the dual importance of maintaining a clean campus environment and promoting electoral literacy as vital components of responsible citizenship.
The first part of the seminar was dedicated to “Electoral Literacy and Voter Registration.” In the session, NSS Program Officer & Assistant Prof. of Political Science, Ajay Kumar provided a comprehensive overview of the electoral process, the importance of voting and the rights and responsibilities of voters.
The session aimed to aware students about the process of registration in the Electoral Roll and the significance of their participation in the democratic process and to ensure that all eligible students are registered to vote. Various forms related to registration, addition and correction of names were discussed with the students.
The second segment of the seminar focused on the “Clean Campus Initiative,” where students and volunteers expressed their views on the importance of cleanliness and effective waste management practices. They also covered key topics such as the environmental impact of waste, health and hygiene and practical strategies for waste segregation, recycling and composting.
The program was supervised by NSS Programme officer Prof. Ajay Kumar who remarked in the end that the NSS Unit of GDC Dharmari remains committed to its mission of promoting social and civic responsibility among students. The success of this seminar marks another step forward in the unit’s ongoing efforts to create a cleaner, more informed and actively engaged the students.
