Hakeem Demands Backward Area Status For Khag Area, Fast Track Completion Of Mirgund – Arizal , Khag – Drang – Tossamaidan Roads

Srinagar: Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister , Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has made a fervent appeal to the L G Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Attal Dullo to declare Khag area a backward area . He said the area lacks power ,drinking water , health care and road connectivity facilities.
In response to pleas made by a deputation of Khag and adjacent villages in central district Budgam Hakeem has urged the Govt to declare the Khag area as backward area as it wss both educationally and economically backward with people living below the poverty BPL line. He has appealed LG Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Attal Dullo to issue an administrative order to declare Khag as a backward area . He said this area has been ignored since last 50 years in every sector.
Hakeem has urged the Govt to fast track construction of Khag – Drang – Tossamaidan road, which is under construction since 2011 .He said construction of this road was imperative for socio – economic transformation of this backward area as it would open doors for multiple tourism activities in the area. He has also demanded completion of Mirgund – Arizal road on fast track basis adding that the road would provide connectivity to about 50 villages. He urged that these roads of immense public importance need to be completed before the onset of winter. PDF Chairman has sought personal intervention of Chief Secretary towards development of Khag area to meet development aspirations of the people and to provide them basic civic facilities at par with urban areas. He has sought the formation of a special team of senior officers and engineers to asses’ developmental needs of the area on the ground level.
