Baltal: In a noteworthy development, the Power Development Department (PDD) has installed new lighting along the Baltal track leading to the Amarnath Cave Shrine. This initiative aims to improve the safety and experience of the thousands of yatris who traverse this path each year.
The new lighting ensures better visibility during the early morning and late evening hours, reducing the risk of accidents and enhancing the overall safety of the journey. Yatris have responded positively to the changes, noting both the practical benefits and the added beauty to their spiritual trek. One pilgrim shared, “The lighting has made it much easier to navigate the track, especially in the dark. It feels much safer now.” Another noted, “The lights not only help us see better but also create a beautiful, serene atmosphere.” The effectiveness and prompt implementation of the lighting project have garnered praise for the PDD. A group of devotees remarked, “The efficiency and commitment shown by the PDD in enhancing our pilgrimage experience are commendable.
