Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla, Sopore and Pulwama and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO Police Station Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Hospital Crossing Tangmarg intercepted one Ishfaq Ahmad Khan S/o Mohammad Sultan Wani R/o Chountpathri Tangmarg and during search recovered 50 grams of contraband Charas like substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Tangmarg where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Pulwama, a police party led by SHO Police Station Kakapora at a checkpoint established near Railway Crossing intercepted one Irfan Ayoub Khan S/o Mohd Ayoub Khan R/o Begumbagh who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search, Brown Sugar like substance concealed in a polythene bag and a digital weighing machine was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar incident in Sopore, police received a specific input about possession of narcotics substance by one Muhammad Altaf Dar S/o Ghulam Qadir Dar R/o Mumkak, Sopore and thereafter a Police party led by SHO Police Station Sopore, under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir, executed a meticulously planned raid at the residence of the said accused and later during search, huge quantity of psychotropic substances including 2016 capsules of spasmoproxyvon (84 strips) were recovered from the accused who was immediately arrested. Police in it’s statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered in respective police stations besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
