A New Era Begins With Virtual Inauguration Of 48.5-Km Railway Track
PM Modi’s Visit Sets the Stage for BJP’s Lok Sabha Poll Campaign
In a landmark event set to transform the landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate a plethora of projects worth a staggering Rs 3161 crores on February 20. He will grace the occasion virtually, addressing a massive crowd at the MA Stadium in the heart of the city, where an estimated one lakh people are expected to gather. The special focus of this significant event lies in the Prime Minister’s interactions with the people of the Jammu & Kashmir. A momentous occasion awaits the residents, particularly the Paharis and three other tribes recently granted Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) receiving representation in Panchayats and Municipalities, and the Valmikis included in the Scheduled Castes category during the recent budget session of Parliament. Accompanying Prime Minister Modi on this historic day will be Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, among others. The tour is scheduled to be a nearly two-hour-long affair, primarily confined to MA Stadium, symbolizing a concentrated effort to communicate directly with the people of the region. One of the key highlights of this event is the virtual inauguration of the railway track, which will commence 48.5 kilometers ahead of Banihal from Baramulla. This virtual inauguration by the Prime Minister is anticipated to mark a new chapter in the connectivity and transportation infrastructure of the region. The train will now travel from Baramulla to Sangaldan, covering an additional distance of 48.5 kilometers, benefitting the people of Khari, Sangaldan, Gool, Arnas, Mahore, and other areas. The Prime Minister is poised to unveil multiple projects running into thousands of crores, showcasing the government’s commitment to comprehensive development in the region. These include the inauguration of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Vijaypur in Samba district, the highest railway bridge in Reasi district, the Devika Rejuvenation project, the Shahpur Kandi project, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, and several major roads and projects spanning both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
“The inauguration of AIIMS at Vijaypur, a monumental project covering 226.84 acres on both sides of NH-44 in Samba district, is a significant milestone in the healthcare infrastructure of the region. This hospital, announced as part of the development package for Jammu and Kashmir in 2014, is set to commence operations by opening OPD services in about 50 specialties. Another noteworthy project is the world’s highest 1.3 km-long rail bridge, located 359 meters above the Chenab river. This engineering marvel, 35 meters higher than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris, forms a crucial link in the 111 km Katra-Banihal stretch, part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) Project. The Rs 190-crore Devika river project in Udhampur, North India’s first river rejuvenation project under the National River Conservation Plan (NRCP), is expected to be a game-changer.”
Of the 209 projects slated for this occasion, Modi will lay the foundation stone for 124 and inaugurate 85 projects, collectively amounting to a staggering Rs 3161 crores. The spectrum of these projects is vast and includes nine Industrial Estates, road projects, bridges, flats for Kashmiri migrants, and the upgradation/revamping of various infrastructure facilities across J&K. The foundation stone-laying ceremony will include projects such as nine Industrial Estates covering 2210 kanals, the construction and upgradation of 62 road projects and 42 bridges, 2816 flats for Kashmiri migrants in different regions, and the upgradation/revamping of the Transport Nagar at Parimpora in Srinagar. Additionally, the Data Centre/Disaster Recovery Centre for the Integrated Command and Control Centre for Jammu Smart City is also on the list of projects to be initiated. The list of projects to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister is equally impressive, including the transit accommodation of 224 flats for Kashmiri migrants, degree college buildings infrastructure at four locations, the Drug Testing Laboratory at Kathua, Grid Stations, Receiving Stations, and Transmission Line projects in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Furthermore, 12 road projects, three bridges, modernization of Narwal Fruit Mandi, five Common Effluent Treatment Plants in Samba, and the Intelligent Traffic Management System in Srinagar City are also part of the inauguration lineup. A pivotal aspect of the event is the distribution of job letters to the youth of Jammu & Kashmir. While some fortunate individuals will receive their job letters in person, the rest will be handed their appointments virtually. This gesture symbolizes the government’s commitment to empowering the youth and providing them with meaningful employment opportunities. The projects being launched by Prime Minister Modi are expected to bring about a significant boost to the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources, these projects are strategically planned to address critical needs, enhance infrastructure, and elevate the living standards of the residents. The Prime Minister’s interaction with the people via video conferencing is anticipated to further reinforce the government’s dedication to inclusive development and responsive governance.
