UIDAI releases Rs 2.50 cr as ICT assistance to JK: Ansari

Srinagar:  Minister for Information technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari Tuesday directed officials to speed up the Aadhaar seeding process of students in schools.

The Minister said this while chairing a meeting with the concerned IT officers here Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Minister stressed upon the officers to complete the Aadhaar seeding process of left out population in general and Children in particular across the State. So that the students can avail benefits of various Central and State sponsored schemes.

The meeting was informed that UIDAI GOI has released Rs 2.50 crore as ICT assistance to the state of J&K out of which Rs 1 crore stands already released to State Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan J&K. It was informed that the remaining funds to the tune of Rs 1.50 crore are being allotted to School Education Department and Social Welfare Department for the requisite training of the officials of School Education Department and Anganwari workers which has already been imparted by UIDAI.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the overall progress made under Aadhaar enrollment for children and it was informed that the Aadhaar seeding process for left out population is in full swing.

Furthermore, the Minister directed officers to setup more machinery on priority basis to finish the enrollment process of children particularly under the age group of 15 years, so that they can avail benefits of various state and centrally sponsored schemes. Besides, the Minister said more enrollment centers to be setup in schools and Anganwari centers to accomplish the project.

To review the further progress, the Minister said he will individually conduct one on one meeting with all the DC’s and also take periodic reviews to check the progress made under Aadhaar enrollment, so that the Aadhaar seeding process gets completed within stipulated time.
