Shimla: With the death of three persons in a rain-related road accident the toll in the current monsoon mounted to 138 on Friday.
A state government spokesperson said a car plunged into a 500-metre deep gorge near Khabal village in Chirgoan area of Shimla district on Thursday night as that part of the road caved in along with the car.
Three persons died on the spot and two others sustained injuries. and are hospitlased at CHC Chirgoan. The deceased are identified as Satya Prakash, Prithvi Raj and Anil.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu mourned the demise of the three persons..He directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the affected families and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
State Disaster Management Authority spokesperson said that the total death toll has risen to 138 in the state due to rain-related mishaps and 169 injured as 48 people had died in rain-affected road accidents.
The state recorded a monetary loss to the tune of Rs 4985.68 Cr. as monsoon rain damaged 586 houses, 234 shops and 1500 cowsheds and 5030 houses partially.
