Srinagar: Apni Party on Monday staged protest demonstrations in Srinagar demanding increase in the ration quota for the people of Kashmir valley.

Meanwhile, Apni Party claimed that several party activists and leaders were detained by the police and were not allowed to take out a march outside their office in Srinagar.

The demonstrators, including a good number of women holding placards, were shouting slogans to press for their demands including an increase in the Ration quota and uninterrupted electricity supply for the people of Kashmir valley.

“We are demanding adequate supply of ration to the people of Kashmir especially for Srinagar district which has been curtailed by the authorities making life miserable for consumers”, Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir told media persons,

He said they could only hold protest demonstrations to get the demands redressed as there is no elected government existing in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the demonstration was aimed to highlight the administration’s alleged inability to ensure the availability of vital commodities for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He hoped that authorities would wake up and address our demands.
