PULWAMA, OCTOBER 31: As part of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas observance, the District Administration Pulwama today organised a special Run for Unity for specially abled people and members of third-gender community.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Kuldeep Krishan Sidha flagged off the rally from the DC Office Complex, Pulwama, in the presence of ADC Pulwama, Dr. S.M. Ashraf, DSWO Pulwama, Azhar Amin, DYSSO Pulwama and other senior officers.

The participants proceeded from the DC Office Complex to the District Social Welfare Office, Pulwama, carrying the message of national unity, equality and inclusion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised that specially abled people and members of third-gender community are an integral part of society and should have equal opportunities to participate in public life and contribute to the development of the district and the country.

He emphasised the need to empower specially abled people by providing them opportunities, adequate support and suitable platforms to participate actively in social and community activities. He said that greater participation would help them utilise their abilities, build confidence and lead lives with dignity and independence.

The Deputy Commissioner also emphasised the need for greater social acceptance and equal opportunities for third-gender persons. He stressed that they should be provided suitable platforms to participate in social, cultural and community activities and encouraged to contribute to the development of society. He added that inclusion of all sections is essential for building a fair and progressive society.

The special run provided an opportunity for the participants to join the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas observance and conveyed the message that national unity and development are strengthened when every section of society is included.

The programme concluded at the District Social Welfare Office, Pulwama, with the participants and officers joining the observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
