Police books prominent departmental store in Srinagar for “selling adulterated” milk

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday booked a prominent departmental store in Srinagar for allegedly selling adulterated milk which led to the deterioration of the health of newborn baby.
In a Tweet, Srinagar police said the case has been registered against 7/11 department store in Sanat Nagar.
A complaint was lodged in Police station Saddar stating that they purchased milk from 7/11 department store on June 8 and since then the baby who is 30 days old is not well.
“ When we tried calling the mentioned customer care number on the box, it came to my notice that the number and importer slip was fake. We raised the same issue with the store owner and he himself is not aware about the supplier of his products and denying it… ,” the complaint said.
After the complaint a case was registered in Police Saddar under sections 273 (sale of noxious food or drink),274 (adulteration),275 (sale of adulterated drugs),276 (sale of drug as a different drug or preparation) and 420 (cheating) of Indian Penal Code.
Police said further investigations in the case are underway.
