New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Monday amid uproar by the Opposition on Adani issue.

As soon as Presiding Officer Rajendra Agrawal resumed the proceedings of the House, members from the Opposition benches trooped into the well holding placards and raised slogans against the government and demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Hindenburg Research report over Adani Group.

The Hindenburg Research report alleged the Adani Group had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud schemes over the course of decades.

Amid the din, the Presiding Officer got important papers laid on the Table of the House.

The Presiding Officer disapproved the conduct of the Opposition MPs and asked them to go back to their respective seats. But, they defied.

Later, Agrawal adjourned the House till 1100 hours on April 5.

Earlier in the day, the Lower House paid rich tributes to MP Girish Bapat and former parliamentarian Innocent, who passed away recently.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, Speaker Om Birla mentioned about the death of Bapat and Innocent, and expressed deep grief over their demise.

The Speaker adjourned the House till 1400 hours as a mark of respect to the departed souls, after the members observed silence.

Bapat, who represented Maharashtra’s Pune parliamentary seat, passed away at the age of 74 on March 29.

Innocent, the former MP from Kerala’s Chalakkudy died on March 26. He was 75.
