Srinagar: Amid the roaming of wild animal (Leopard) in uptown areas of Srinagar, the wildlife department Thursday said that they have got some vital clues of the animal by capturing the images in cameras at two places in Srinagar.
An official supervising the operation while pleading annonymity said that they have narrowed down the search in the area as they have captured the movement of Leopard at two locations in uptown areas of Srinagar.
“We are getting closer now in sorting out the conflict as our cameras have captured the images from Wanibal and the old airport in the Rangreth area and, so far we have got the images of only one animal”, he said.
The official said that they have also been largely successful in identifying the track of the animal as well and that they are trying at multiple levels to track down the roaming animal.
He said that people should continue to take precautions and avoid any movement of children during the morning or evening hours, stating that the animal is roaming around the human habitat.
“Wanibal area has a history of witnessing the movement of wild animals as last year we captured one Leopard from the area. People in the area should move in peers and should avoid keeping their pets in the lawns as that attracts the animal”, he remarked.
He added that they have increased the number of trap cages in specified areas after they identified the vital trails leading to the animal.
Pertinently, a leopard was spotted in Srinagar’s Rawalpora area, around mid of February, after which the wildlife department mobilized its teams and permanently deputed two teams in the areas to capture the animal
