Sopore: Police on Sunday said that it has arrested a notorious drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered Psychotropic substances from his possession.
In a statement issued on Sunday police said that officers at a checkpoint established at Achabal crossing intercepted one person in a suspicious condition who tried to flee away from the spot but the alert police party apprehended him tactfully and upon checking 1104 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon Plus were recovered from his possession and he was later identified as Ishfaq Mushtaq Mir@Pin Mir son of Mushtaq Ahmad Mir resident of Achabal Sopore.
Stating that the above named accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 72/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
