CS reviews implementation of Rs 1500 Cr JTFRP with World Bank Mission

Srinagar: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas Thursday chaired a meeting with the visiting World Bank Mission led by Task Team Leader Deepak Singh to review the implementation of the Rs 1500 crore Jhelum & Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP).

Chief Executive Officer, JTFRP, Additional DG, CD, HG & SDRF, Administrative Secretaries of the Departments of Health & Medical Education, Industries & Commerce, H&UD and other senior officers were present in the meeting.

CEO, JTFRP briefed about the implementation arrangement discussed during the interaction of the PMU and the three PIUs with the Mission in the last couple of days. He informed that implementation of the project is on track and based on the discussions held and the implementation arrangement; DPR preparation and tendering process across all components of the project is being given focussed attention to ensure work on ground starts at the earliest.

It was informed that DPRs in regard to 49 SMC storm water pump stations, plugging of critical gaps in drainage network, Lal Ded and B&J Hospital are almost ready and will be put to tender shortly. Besides, DPRs of Rajbagh Silk Factory and Bemina Woolen Mill have also received endorsement by the World Bank paving way for the commencement of the work on these important projects in coming days. Procurement process of the equipment for SDRF and Fire Department is also under progress.

The World Bank Mission shared with the Chief Secretary their observations during the visit to the various project sites including Lal Ded Hospital, Bone & Joints Hospital, Rajbagh Silk Factory and various drainage pumping stations in Srinagar City.

Chief Secretary emphasised on fast tracking the implementation of the project in order to achieve the project objectives within the set timelines.

Jhelum & Tawi Flood Recovery Project will support the recovery and increase disaster resilience in the affected districts including Srinagar and increase the overall capacity of the state and local communities to respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations created due to floods, earthquakes or any other natural disaster.
