Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela “. our education institutions plays a vital role in a way to shape our education, it is a place where we persue education. Merely four walls do not make a building an institution, a big building, large playground, park, is immaterial for any institution however, it does enhance the beauty of an institution. For higher education, a boy or a girl leaves his or her native place or a native state to procure higher education.Students come from different areas and the majority of them belongs to a middle-class family whose purpose is to shape their personality, their parents invest their hard-earned money to brighten the future of their child .They let their son or daughter to stay out cause they want to see their child with a flying arm. The trauma they face while sending their loved son or daughter outside can’t be explained in words. Here I am going to share my personal experience. I am pursuing law at university and my native village is about 80km far from my university. And when I go back to my home my mother hugs me with wet eyes and then prepare my favourite food and calls my name again and again when i am in another room and then starts asking me what is the menu of your hostel mess?, did the chef’s prepare food properly ? And so on. When my father arrives he smiles at me and shakes my hand and starts asking me how is your study going, and if you want something whether the book or anything asks me I will bring them for you.
During and after the dinner they start a discussion about my carrier, my future. Why I am sharing it here because it happens with every student. Keeping this in mind that what we have learned in our institutions, a general question to all whosoever is reading this. Four wall building can’t be called an institution it is a place where a student learns how to sit in front of seniors, how to talk, react. It transforms a student into a professional person, whatsoever are their fields but unfortunately, our existing institutions have lost their true image. Our institutions are becoming a matrimonial place for bachelors, a fighting place, a place where one can easily use drugs because he is not under the supervision of his parents. Student regards higher institutions as a means of achieving the specified end but the situation in our institutions constrains him and nudges him towards coercion and destruction. Lastly, I want to say that keep the purpose and reputation of your parents in mind before indulging in any activity and go for it. Make yourself and your parents proud and officials of the institutions should legally scrutinize everything
(The author is pursuing Law at Department of Law, University of Kashmir. Views are his own)
