New Delhi: Union Minister of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation M Venkaiah Naidu today said the government is taking strict action against unauthorised occupation of government houses with enforcement of rule of law to get the property evicted.
Addressing a press conference on completion of three years of Urban Transformation here, he said, ‘Lawlessness has prevailed for too long with unauthorised occupants throwing the rules to winds and continuing to stay in government houses for too long beyond the stipulated time.
We have taken this very seriously and acted tough in evicting them.
We strictly enforced the rule of law here as well.
‘ Putting the data across, the Minister said a total of 2,843 government houses were evicted during these three years, including 411 houses occupied by former MPs and Ministers.
