4 candidates withdraw nominations for phase-I in Srinagar

Srinagar: With the last date of withdrawal of nomination papers for phase-I of DDC, Panchayat by- elections and ULB-2020 by- election in Srinagar on November- 16, 4 candidates including 2 Panchs, 1 BDC and 1 DDC candidate withdrew their nominations in Srinagar.
Earlier, during scrutiny, the nominations of 3 candidates including Sarpanch, Panch and DDC candidates were rejected.
For the phase – II, as many as 129 candidates filed their nomination papers for participation in DDC, Panchayat by- elections and ULB-2020 by- election in Srinagar.
As per the District Election office, 11 candidates including 10 male candidates have filed their nomination papers to contest Sarpanch elections, while as 60 candidates including 40 male candidates have filed their nomination for vacant panch seats that are going to polls under phase-II.
For phase-II of DDC polls-2020, the election office has received 37 nominations including 30 from male candidates. The candidates contesting DDC polls include from different National and State political parties.
Similarly for ULB polls 21 candidates including 12 male have filed their nomination papers to contest the polls from different wards under phase-II in Srinagar.
Besides independent, several other candidates are fighting polls either on National or State political party mandates.
For phase-I and phase- II, a total of 193 nominations have been received in Srinagar for DDC, Panchayat by-election and by- election ULB 2020.
