Srinagar: Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen called on LG Manoj Sinha on Monday and held thorough discussion on a wide range of issues including prevailing socio- political and developmental scenario in jammu and kashmir.
Hakeem during his meeting with the Lt Governor discussed in threadbare the emerging situation post August 5 last year and the negative impact of lockdown on account of Coronovirus pandemic on the tourism, horticulture, transport and industries in jammu and kashmir.
Hakeem Yaseen urged the LG to use his good offices to restore statehood to J&K as early as possible as this step was imperative to revive stalled political and democratic process. He said, in absence of a civilian government, people of jammu and kashmir feel themselves totally alienated and neglected due to prevailing disconnect between them and the administration. He said common people have no access to the bearucracy to seek redrassal of their grievances and problems.Hakeem also urged for restoration of special status to jammu and kashmir adding that restoration of basic rights was key to regain trust and confidence of the people of jammu and Kashmir.
Hakeem urged the Lieutenant Governor to sanction a special financial stimulus for revival of the shattered tourism, horticulture, transport and industries which are the core sectors of j&K economy.
PDF Chairman also sought personal intervention of Manoj Sinha to start work on proposed two minihydle power projects on Nallah Shalliganga snd Sukhnag in Khansahib constituency, which have been approved by the Government and await execution since last about 10 years.
Hakeem also brought into the notice of LG, the plight of Asha workers, daily wagers, contractual need based and NHM employees and urged for meeting thier demands regarding regularisation of thier services and release of pending wages without any further delay.
Hakeem also urged the LG to ensure freedom of press in jammu and kashmir adding that media should be victimized for writing facts and pointing out loopholes in working of the administration. He said healthy criticism was the essence of good democracy so freedom of press and freedom of speech need to be safeguarded as per the international standards.
