Kulgam Police arrests 2 militants associates of JeM, claims recovery of arms & ammunition

Srinagar: Police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday said that it arrested two militant associates of Jaish-e- Mohammad militant outfit during intervening night of September 8 and September 9 and recovered live arms and ammunition from their possession.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “based on a credible input about the movement of the illegal arms and ammunition with them moving in a vehicle towards Srinagar from Jammu, Kulgam police established a joint Naka with 9RR and CRPF near Jawahar tunnel Qazigund Kulgam”, adding that “ a truck bearing registration no JK22B-1737 was intercepted by the joint forces. While searching the vehicle and during interrogation of suspects arms and ammunition including 01 AK rifle (short Butt) with 02 Magazines (rounds 59), 01 M4 Carbine with 03 Magazines (rounds 90), 06 Chinese Pistols with 12 Magazines (rounds 84) were recovered from the vehicle”.
The police in it’s statement further said that the truck driver and a person travelling in it were detained and after sustained interrogation, preliminary investigation it was found that they are involved in militancy related crimes and provide support to militant organizations adding that the identity of the two arrested accused persons has been ascertained as Bilal Ahmad Kuttay S/O Ghulam Mohammad Kuttay R/O Chotapora Shopain and Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir S/O Zahoor Ahmad Mir R/O Mandujan, Shopian.
In this regard case with FIR No 255/2020 U/S 7/25 IA Act, 13,18,39 ULAP Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation into the matter has been taken up.
