Checkpoints Established, Patrolling Intensified at Key Locations

Srinagar | November 06: To ensure peaceful Diwali celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have beefed up security, with the Special Operations Group (SOG) and other personnel maintaining heightened vigil at key locations, highways, and sensitive points. Tight security arrangements have been put in place at Udhampur, Jammu, Srinagar, Qazigund, Kathua, Samba, and other parts of the Union Territory, officials said.
Special checkpoints and nakas have been established at vital junctions, entry and exit points, and vulnerable locations, while patrolling has been intensified to monitor suspicious movements. SOG personnel are keeping a strict watch and monitoring vehicle movement along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) as part of the festive security measures, sources said.
Vehicles are being stopped at designated nakas for checking, while frisking of commuters and verification of documents are being conducted wherever required. Additional personnel have been deployed at strategic locations, with security agencies coordinating closely to strengthen surveillance and prevent any untoward incidents during the festive period, officials said.
Patrolling teams have been instructed to maintain round-the-clock vigilance, particularly around crowded places, major thoroughfares, markets, and locations experiencing heavy public footfall. These measures form part of routine security protocols executed during major festivals to maintain law and order and preserve peace, reports said.
