MeT Forecasts Rain, Snowfall Over Higher Reaches Tomorrow; Fresh Wet Spell Expected On Nov 10–11

Srinagar | November, 04: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to receive light rainfall at isolated places and snowfall over higher reaches on Thursday, while temperatures are expected to dip further and morning fog may become more frequent across the region.
Director Meteorological Department Mukhtar Ahmad told news agencies that another weather system is expected to affect Jammu and Kashmir on November 10 and 11, bringing the possibility of light rain in parts of both divisions and snowfall over higher-altitude areas. He added that weather conditions are likely to remain largely dry across the region after the November 5 spell until November 9, though isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out during November 10 and 11.
Meanwhile, minimum temperatures continued to drop across several parts of Kashmir, with Kupwara and Gulmarg recording sub-zero temperatures. According to the India Meteorological Department’s evening bulletin, Kupwara recorded a minimum temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg settled at 1.6 degrees Celsius. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 4.1 degrees Celsius, Qazigund registered 3.4 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 3.1 degrees Celsius, and Jammu city registered a low of 15.1 degrees Celsius.
Ahmad said winter has almost set in across the region, with shallow fog being witnessed over plains during morning hours. He advised farmers to make use of the prevailing dry weather for agricultural activities and urged commuters to follow traffic advisories while travelling through higher reaches and vulnerable road stretches.
