Srinagar|Nov, 04: In view of the expected rush of passengers during the ongoing festive season, Northern Railway’s Jammu Division will operate unreserved special trains between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on November 5 and 6.
According to a railway official, Train No. 04690 (Srinagar–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Unreserved Special Express) will depart from Srinagar at 11:45 am on both days and reach Katra at 3:30 pm.
The train will arrive at Anantnag at 12:55 pm and Banihal at 1:30 pm before reaching its destination.
In the return direction, Train No. 04689 (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Srinagar Unreserved Special Express) will depart from Katra at 4 pm on November 5 and 6. It will reach Banihal at 6:25 pm, Anantnag at 7 pm and Srinagar at 7:45 pm on the same day.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Uchit Singhal said the special service had been introduced in view of the increased movement of passengers and devotees between Kashmir Valley and Katra during the festive period.
He said the additional service was aimed at facilitating passengers, particularly those undertaking last-minute journeys, and ensuring convenient travel between the two destinations.
The railway authorities clarified that both trains would operate entirely in the unreserved category and passengers would be required to purchase valid unreserved tickets before boarding.
Passengers can obtain further information through Railway Helpline No. 139, the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) application and the official railway website.
