Srinagar : Dr. Basharat Qayoom, the Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation on Friday reviewed Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) at a meeting held to assess the progress of the application process and beneficiary verification.

Addressing the meeting Dr Basharat emphasized the urgency of expediting the verification of pending applications and instructed officers to collaborate effectively to resolve procedural challenges, ensuring timely processing for eligible families. The Commissioner highlighted the importance of focusing on deserving households, particularly those from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low-Income Groups (LIG). He insisted on a careful and transparent verification process to avoid difficulties for genuine beneficiaries. Additionally, he called for enhanced awareness initiatives at the ward level, urging officers to organize camps, facilitate online registrations, and provide assistance to ensure that the community is well-informed about eligibility criteria and application procedures. Dr. Qayoom stressed the critical role of Ward Officers and CLTC Experts in guiding applicants and addressing concerns, particularly for those struggling with online registration. He underscored the necessity of public awareness and effective facilitation to prevent eligible households from being overlooked due to misinformation or procedural barriers. The meeting concluded with a directive for all relevant departments and field personnel to maintain coordination and pursue the implementation of the scheme with urgency, ensuring transparency and timely application processing.
