Srinagar : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Abhishek Sharma, Wednesday  presided over a Mega Block Diwas at Nutnussa, reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to addressing public grievances and ensuring effective delivery of government services at the grassroots level.

The programme witnessed active participation from public delegations and local residents of Nutnussa and adjoining areas, including Jagarpora, ChakNutnussa, Keegam and ChakKeegam, who projected various issues and developmental demands concerning their respective areas.

The major issues raised included reliable drinking water and power supply, improvement of road connectivity, strengthening of healthcare infrastructure, promotion of agriculture and horticulture, effective implementation of Rural Development Department (RDD) schemes, and issues related to the functioning of local food stores.

The Mega Block Diwas was attended by ADC Handwara, Chief Planning Officer, Superintending Engineers of PWD and I&FC, Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, ACD Kupwara, Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Tehsildar Handwara and other district and sectoral officers.

The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the grievances and directed the concerned departments to ensure their prompt and time-bound resolution. Several issues were resolved on the spot through the intervention of the concerned officers.

Taking note of drinking water concerns in vulnerable pockets, the DC directed the concerned authorities to maintain a dedicated fleet of water tankers on standby to ensure timely water supply in areas facing acute or persistent shortages.

The Superintending Engineer, I&FC, was directed to expedite ongoing developmental works, remove bottlenecks affecting their execution and submit comprehensive monthly progress reports to the district administration.

Emphasising accessible healthcare, the DC instructed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure proper functioning of NTPHC Nutnussa for uninterrupted healthcare services to the local population.

The ADC Handwara was also directed to organise coordinated outreach camps involving all line departments to enhance public awareness and ensure wider coverage of government welfare schemes and services.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that public grievances must be addressed with urgency and accountability, directing the concerned officers to closely monitor follow-up action and ensure resolution of the issues raised during the programme within stipulated timelines.

Towards the conclusion of the programme, the DC inspected stalls set up by various departments to showcase their achievements, ongoing initiatives and public welfare activities. He also distributed sanction letters among beneficiaries under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) through the Animal Husbandry Department.
