Official Apprehended For Demanding Rs 10,000 For Renovation Clearance
Srinagar | October, 16: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Ward Officer of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Safa Kadal, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
Officials said the action followed a formal complaint alleging the official demanded money to allow minor residential renovation work to proceed. The agency laid a red-handed trap on Thursday, catching the official at the moment of exchange.
Further investigations into the matter are underway. The CBI has reiterated its call for citizens across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh to report public corruption through its anti-corruption branch in Srinagar.
