Ramban, : Additional Deputy Commissioner (District Nodal Officer) Ramban Varunjeet Singh Charak Wednesday  chaired a meeting to review the progress of Animal Birth Control (ABC), anti-rabies vaccination and stray dog management activities in the district.

The meeting was attended by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer   Rajesh Arora; Tehsildar Headquarters Reejuta Mahajan; officers from Municipal Committees and other concerned departments.

The ADC reviewed the action taken by the concerned departments on the directions issued at the previous meeting and assessed the progress achieved in this regard.

Detailed discussions were held on the sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination of stray dogs, removal of stray dogs from institutional areas, establishment and functioning of the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre, and provision of dedicated feeding spaces for stray dogs in each municipal ward.

The ADC directed the concerned departments to initiate compulsory animal registration and instructed the Municipal Committees to identify suitable sites for establishing animal shelters in their respective areas.

The officers were also directed to launch an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign to sensitise the public about designated dog feeding points and proper management and disposal of edible waste to help prevent stray dog-related issues.
