DGP Prabhat reviews security scenario, action against narco-terror modules in Jammu

Srinagar | Sept 12: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting here to review the prevailing security situation and assess the action being taken against narco-terror networks and their support modules, officials said.
Senior police and intelligence officers, including Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range, Tejinder Singh and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shridhar Patil, attended the meeting.
“The DGP reviewed the security scenario and action against narco-terror modules, with all officers of Jammu Police,” Jammu Zone Police said in a post on X.
Officials said the meeting focused on emerging security challenges, particularly attempts by terror-linked networks to exploit narcotics as a means of generating funds and facilitating anti-national activities.
The DGP took stock of the measures being undertaken by police to identify, investigate and dismantle such networks operating in the Jammu region, they said.
The meeting also reviewed the broader security scenario and the evolving challenges confronting the Jammu region, with officers apprising the DGP of the measures being taken to counter activities linked to terror networks and their support structures.Emphasis On Coordination, Proactive Policing
A police spokesperson said the meeting also reviewed the crime situation and laid emphasis on strengthening coordination among police, intelligence agencies and other security stakeholders.
The DGP stressed the need for proactive policing and effective intelligence gathering to detect emerging threats at an early stage and prevent networks involved in narco-terror activities from establishing or expanding their support base.
The officers also discussed the need for an effective and coordinated response to emerging security and law-and-order challenges in the region, officials said.
