Srinagar : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday handed over appointment orders to newly appointed Medical Officers of the Department of Health & Medical Education at a ceremony held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) here.
Personally handing over the appointment orders to the newly recruited Medical Officers appointed across Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister congratulated them on joining the J&K GovernFrment service and urged them to regard their appointment as the beginning of a new chapter dedicated to serving the people.
Addressing the gathering Chief Minister said the appointments of newly appointed Medical Officers are the result of years of dedication and sacrifice from both the doctors and their families. He highlighted the significance of this moment as the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, urging them to recognize the immense responsibility that comes with serving in the health sector, where they will be pivotal in providing care during vulnerable times for patients. He stressed the importance of delivering quality healthcare in remote and underserved areas, advocating for the availability of essential medical services at the sub-district and district levels to alleviate the burden on major hospitals. The Chief Minister acknowledged the expectations of doctors regarding infrastructure and working conditions in these areas, assuring them of the government’s commitment to improving these aspects. Furthermore, he underscored the government’s efforts to enhance medical education accessibility, noting that J&K offers subsidized medical education to ensure affordability for students. The Chief Minister expressed the intention to increase the intake capacity of medical colleges, thereby creating a larger pool of trained doctors for public service. In closing, he encouraged the newly appointed Medical Officers to embrace their roles with dedication and compassion, reminding them of the sacrifices made by their families and the hope placed in them by the community. He reiterated the government’s support in improving service conditions and infrastructure, wishing them a successful career in public service.
