Jammu : Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has announced that a third Vande Bharat train for Jammu and Srinagar will be launched soon, marking a significant mobility boost for the region, sources said.
In a video message Singh confirmed that the Ministry of Railways has approved a commercial halt at Udhampur following strong public demand. Reflecting on the network’s expansion since 1972, Singh credited recent political will and engineering feats—including the iconic Chenab River bridge—for connecting the valley and opening up scenic rail tourism.
President clears Ladakh High Court bench, Chief Justice gets sitting powers
Srinagar : The President of India has promulgated the Union Territory of Ladakh Regulation, 2026, paving the way for a permanent High Court bench in the territory, reports said.
Reports said that under the regulation, judges of the common High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh may sit in Ladakh as appointed by the Chief Justice with the Lieutenant Governor’s approval. The Chief Justice retains full discretion to hear Ladakh cases at Srinagar or Jammu, while the principal seat of the High Court remains unchanged.
