• Raids carried out across Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam to uncover alleged support network aiding infiltrated terrorists

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted searches at 10 locations across Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama and Budgam in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged cross-border terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based handlers and a network of local overground workers (OGWs).
The searches were aimed at securing further documentary, digital and material evidence related to the alleged conspiracy and establishing the roles of persons suspected to be associated with the local support network, the agency said.
The case originated from FIR No. 0024/2026 registered at Police Station Zakura, Srinagar, and was subsequently re-registered by the NIA as RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act.
According to the NIA, the investigation followed the arrest of an alleged OGW linked to the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit during the late-night hours of March 31. A hand grenade and live ammunition were allegedly recovered from his possession.
During the probe, the agency said Pakistani terrorists allegedly connected with the conspiracy were arrested, while the identities and alleged roles of members of the local support network were also ascertained.
The investigation has indicated alleged linkages between Pakistan-based handlers and local associates who were allegedly being used for communication, logistical arrangements, movement and concealment of terrorists, besides providing shelter, reconnaissance and other forms of facilitation.
The NIA is also examining the financial trail, communication channels, movement of the accused and sources of arms and explosives to establish the complete network and the extent of its activities.
The agency said evidence secured during Saturday’s searches is being examined and corroborated with other material collected during the investigation.
The NIA said it would continue its probe to identify all persons allegedly involved and ascertain their respective roles. Further legal action, including arrests or recoveries, may follow depending on the outcome of the investigation.
